N.Y.C.R.C.: n. 1 A popular music-camp for boys and girls ages 9-17, taking place in New York City. The camp allows kids of all skill levels and backgrounds a chance to ROCK!
Who We Are...N.Y.C. Rock Camp, presented by Youth Empowerment through Arts & Humanities (YEAH!), is a mixed genre music camp that focuses on empowering youth through music and building community through shared musical expression. Rock Camp is designed to allow New York City youth, regardless of race, class, or creed, freedom of expression and exploration in music and performance, and in so doing, empowers students to find their own voice, sound, and beat without creative boundary or inhibition. |

We kicked off Friday morning with an activity we call the “Shout-Out Circle,” to frame the day for its theme of EMPOWERMENT. For Day 4, the morning workshop’s theme was Collaboration. The kids discussed the importance of collaborative listening and compromises, and gave examples of positive interactions they’d already experienced in their bands. We had an amazing second day at NYCRC yesterday! The day’s theme was COMMUNITY ACTIVISM, and each camper brought in a donation for a local charity.
